Fischer is a huge supporter of environmental action and recognizes that change needs to happen now. He plans to push green energy initiatives such as off-shore wind energy in Long Island. These types of movements will hopefully build momentum in order to make a larger difference in the state and nation. We need politicians who will fight to promote environmentally friendly technology and policies, and Fischer will do that. Fischer understands how urgent the issue of climate change is and we would like to see him using these stances in Congress.

Bridget Fleming  is a Suffolk County Legislator, Ex-Southampton Town Councilwoman & Attorney

Fleming regards “preserving our natural environment” as one of the main focuses of her campaign. She recognizes environmental protection as an extremely important issue. However, we are looking for more bold commitments and her lack of specific plans to reduce emissions in the area leaves some room for improvement.

Lee Zeldin
Bad Click to read about our ranking scales

Lee Zeldin has been an incumbent since 2015. His Lifetime LCV Score: 13% Rank: Bad

Zeldin boasts on his campaign website that he supports the Long Island Sounds Program and the National Estuary Program. In reality, his voting record shows that he consistently votes for legislation that has negative effects on the environment. He often votes against bills that will provide funding towards fighting climate change.

We cannot afford to have people who ignore the severity of climate change in our Congress. Electing Zeldin would be a step back for America in the issue of climate change. All in all, Zeldin doesn’t see environmental protection as an important issue and therefore will lead the state in the wrong direction.
